Seven best stretches for a good night’s sleep

Sleep is essential for a person’s overall health and wellbeing. Unfortunately, many of us experience difficulty in obtaining sufficient restful sleep. Fortunately, there are a variety of stretches that can help us achieve a good night’s sleep.

The first stretch to consider for a good night’s sleep is the Child’s Pose. This pose involves kneeling on the floor with your backside on your heels. Reach your arms forward and rest your forehead on the ground. This stretch can help relax the body and release any tension from the back and shoulders.

The Cat-Cow Pose is another great stretch for a good night’s sleep. Begin on your hands and knees with your back in a neutral position. Then, inhale and arch your back while exhaling and rounding your spine. Move slowly between the two poses, holding each for a few breaths before transitioning. This stretch can help improve flexibility and spinal mobility.

The Standing Forward Bend is another great stretch for a good night’s sleep. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and slowly fold forward from your hips. Place your hands on the ground or grab onto your elbows and hang. Relax your neck and back and hold for several breaths before slowly rolling up. This stretch can help reduce stress and fatigue.

The Extended Triangle Pose is a great stretch for a good night’s sleep. Begin by standing with your feet wider than hip-width apart and turn your right foot out about 90 degrees. Extend your arms out to the sides and fold forward over your right leg. Hold for a few breaths before repeating on the other side. This stretch helps open the chest and shoulders and can also help improve digestion.

The Seated Spinal Twist is also a great stretch for a good night’s sleep. Begin by sitting with your legs crossed in front of you. Place your right hand on your left knee and your left arm behind you. Twist your torso to the right side, breathing deeply and holding for a few breaths before switching sides. This stretch can help reduce tension in the spine and reduce stress.

The Legs Up the Wall Pose is another great stretch for a good night’s sleep. This pose involves lying on your back with your legs up the wall and your arms out to the sides. Stay in this position for a few minutes, breathing deeply, and allowing your body to relax. This pose can help reduce fatigue and improve circulation.

Finally, the Reclined Bound Angle Pose is a great stretch for a good night’s sleep. Begin by lying on your back with your knees bent and the soles of your feet together. Place your arms out to the sides and relax your entire body. Hold this pose for a few minutes, breathing deeply and allowing your body to relax. This pose can help reduce tension in the hips and improve digestion.
